The SNFAC advisory provides a Bottom Line for different zones within the advisory area. This map shows the different zones, along with locations of the four weather stations we or our partners operate. Keep in mind:
- The advisory regions are approximate.
- When you are traveling near the boundaries of two zones, factor the information and danger rating from both zones into your decision-making.
- We receive fewer observations from more remote areas. The avalanche advisory applies, but expect variations in conditions and danger levels.
Listed below are brief descriptions of each zone. Click on a zone on the map for a list of popular destinations within that area:

South & Central Wood River Valley:
The mountains east and west of the Wood River between Bellevue and the North Fork (Sawtooth NRA Headquarters).
North Wood River Valley & Salmon Headwaters:
The mountains east and west of the Wood River between the North Fork (Sawtooth NRA Headquarters) and Galena Summit, as well as the drainages in the Salmon Headwaters between Galena Summit and Alturas Lake.
Sawtooth Mountains:
The Sawtooth Mountains north of Alturas Lake and south of Stanley Lake.
Soldier Mountains:
The mountains north of Highway 20 near Fairfield.
