Sun Valley Guides Level 1 Avalanche Course

January 16, 2021 - January 17, 2021

Our Level 1 course will look a little different this season, but will provide the same amount of education. There will be some required self-paced online learning to be completed prior to getting outside in the field together. We will also have some Zoom meetings to review gear, discuss the online material, and get you prepared for the field days. While we will miss our traditional in-classroom learning, we’re excited to be spending even more time in the mountains teaching you everything there is to know about the basics of avalanche terrain.

Our staff offers decades of experience with teaching and traveling in avalanche terrain. We truly love to geek out on snow and watch as students expand their knowledge of the snowpack, weather, terrain, and human factors. Students will receive a certification of completion for a Level 1 Avalanche Training Course as outlined by the American Avalanche Association.
