The Sawtooth Avalanche Center is able to operate thanks to the US Forest Service and the fundraising efforts of the Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center. The Friends are locally based and provide more than half the funding for the Center. They operate under 501 (c)(3) guidelines.

Motorized Level 1 Class - Stanley

January 18-20, 2019

The Sawtooth Avalanche Center is hosting an AAA (American Avalanche Association) Motorized-specific Level 1 Avalanche Course in Stanley January 18-20, 2019. The course curriculum was developed primarily by the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center and follows the AAA’s snowmobile Level 1 course guidelines.

The course will begin with a classroom session on Friday evening from 5-9pm followed by 8am-5pm classroom/field sessions on Saturday and Sunday. The classroom sessions will be in Stanley, and the field sessions will be on Banner Summit and/or in the Salmon Headwaters.

The cost is $225/person. The class is limited to 18 students. A snowmachine is required.
