Oct 8-12 storm was followed by 10 days of mostly clear weather: cold to cool initially, then seasonal to above normal temperatures. That storm snow surely faceted initially before sunshine and/or warm temperatures may have formed crusts. On the evening of Oct 22 (burial date), rain fell to at least 8000′ and probably above 9000′. The layer was buried on 10/22 on some upper elevation slopes.
Unsure how this weak layer will present, and it should vary dramatically by elevation, aspect, and mountain range. We will add more information once we see it up close.
