AVALANCHE OBSERVATIONS
None Reported
Comments: South Valley Overview: Dozens of slides at all elevations focused on NW-N-NE-E. Some slides on southeast-facing terrain as far south as Croy Canyon (Kelly). It appeared that these needed to be at least 7,700' in order to retain a bit of snow prior to this storm.

Greenhorn: (4-5) D1 storm or persistent slabs in north-facing terrain. Mainly breaking at low elevations on steep slopes just above valley floor. One D2 wind slab along exposed ridge.

East Fork: (5-6) large wind slabs on N-NW facing terrain in Cove Creek. (1 or 2) D3’s running full path on Mine Bender (2,600’ vert, if these crowns were connected it was ~2,200’ wide, debris looked ~30’ deep). (2 Dozen) mid and low elevation storm or persistent slabs. Small pockets released in openings and steep sections mid-path. Also several initiated at low elevation break overs that dumped into the creek.

Deer Creek: (2-3) D2-D3’s? Poor vantage point but multiple wide crowns on upper elevation NE along Wolftone Creek and north face of Kelly.

Patterson: (3) D2’s in wind loaded N-NW facing terrain along the summit ridge.

Carbonate: (8) mid and low elevation storm or persistent slabs along the E-face. (4-5) D2 wind slabs running (1,200’ vert to the river).

Croy Canyon: (4) D2’s on NE-face of Kelly and peak to the east (head of Bullion Gulch). A handful of other D1-D2 wind slabs on E and even slightly SE-facing slopes as wind shifted to the west Friday afternoon.
