BOTTOM LINE
Comments: This was a quick out and back mission to the weather station. We did not travel in avalanche terrain. Pole pokes along the way revealed generally weak faceted snow capped with surface hoar in more shaded areas. Steeper south aspects along the moraine had seen lots of meltwater and were frozen solid. Closer to the hut, souths had a breakable crust at the surface as well as a couple other prominent stiff layers lower in the pack. No real signs of instability aside from the one large collapse near the weather station.
