This very large deep slab avalanche was observed below the north face of Williams Peak in the Sawtooths. The crown spans over 2,000' of terrain on a N-NE aspect between 9,000 and 9,500'. Photo: T. Haskins
Very large natural avalanches were observed throughout the Sawtooth Mountains, following a storm that brought up to 3" of snow water equivalent to this area. Several crowns are visible in this photo of the north arm of Williams Peak. Much of this terrain had already avalanched once this year. Photo: T. Haskins
