The objective of this field day was to gather data at the scene of Wednesday's fatal avalanche. We'll post a preliminary video soon and will also share the full accident report once all the information has been compiled.
5 cm new snow overnight. Overcast to start and end the day. One brief period of snow with no accumulation. Diffuse sun at midday. Relatively calm at middle and low elevations. Light S wind at 9,300', snow plumes off the higher peaks of the Smoky Crest.

We had a good look into Apollo, Brodie and beyond and did not see much sign of recent avalanches.

We were very cognizant of slope angles and connected slopes. We didn't feel safe approaching the crown due to concerns of remote triggering and hangfire.
