Observations

We stayed on the ridge closest to the Lake Creek parking lot. Skinned up and skied down in the same low angle zone. Observed an avalanche that looked a few days old on the north aspect on a wind loaded slope. Once we skied down we heard whomfing near and far and triggered an avalanche on the N aspect ridge to the south. Didn't dig a pit because I forgot my saw and cord (oops). Loud snowpack, huge facets up to 10mm in height.

Media

Skiers triggered this avalanche (on the far ridge, photo right) in the Lake Ck Drainage north of Ketchum. On descent near the older slide (foreground, photo left) they reported hearing/feeling a whumpf followed by the sound of the avalanche release. Photo: A. Sevcik
