Today our tour started at 6,000’; the height of snow pack was 55-70cm on S-SE. Not much snow prior to last storm(12/8) the bottom 15-25 cm was a combination of FC and MFcr. ECT x2 were inconclusive, the CSPT results were 45/90 to end.
At 7,000’ we observed a snow pack that was 90-100cm on a N aspect. 12/8 landed on mostly 30cm of FC to ground. We preformed two PST’s at the 12/8 interface. Results of both were 25/90 to end with sudden collapse and a clean fracture character.
Today's terrain choices were dictated by the poor structure observed in both locations, and also terrain unfamiliarity.
The photo is at 7,000’ where the surface hoar was the tallest at 3-7mm. We observed SH on most aspects and elevations, except for those steepest slopes that directly face the sun.
