Today’s plan was to gain the mellow slopes of Gladiators westerly ridge and evaluate conditions was they were changing rapidly with the new snow and cell moving through the area. Observed calm, foggy conditions with light snowfall and no wind in the early morning. However, in gaining altitude towards the summit dense, rapid snowfall was observed with periods of >1” per hour. Wind drifted pillowing and a moderate easterly wind formed Rhyme and found scattered, sensitive slabs. These were not large, but could be on lee-slopes. 8-20 cm SAFT. Did not observe failures. Closed all alpine terrain on steep, loaded aspects where wind could deposit the new dense snow and “pillowing” conditions existed.
