Comments:
We kicked off 2 size 1 storm slabs on the new/old snow interface down a steep chute as we took our first turns off the summit. Snow ran for quite a ways, but was light and appeared to be from the new 8+ inches that fell in the last 24 hours.
None reported
Snow was extremely wet down low (6800’) when we began our tour. As we gained elevation, temps dropped and snow quality was great towards the top (8000’ & above). However, at middle elevations (~7500) elevations on eastern aspects, small wet slabs broke off the crust layer beneath our skis as we traversed. Off of the summit, snow quality was excellent, though we triggered soft/loose D1 down the main tube.
