Skinned out Mushroom Ridge in search of corn on various aspects (7,500'-10,000', E-SE-S-SW). Solid freeze last night + chilly E-NE breeze this morning kept wet snow issues at bay throughout our tour (0800-1300). Approaches seem to be melting out quick this year, and Mushroom Ridge is no exception. Some hiking in ski boots is required early on across bare ground until you get higher up on the ridge. Found a variety of snow surfaces today across different aspects/times - good corn, icy crust, and everything in between. We felt comfortable entering steep terrain on morning solar aspects with the solid freeze and early start.
