Signs of Unstable Snow

Observations

Snow quality was hard as rock until 8500 + feet. Would be very difficult to travel on anything other than Snowbike, given exposure and steep/rock hard sidehill. No recent tracks above scree field. Road is hazardous with creek in it and serious exposure. We took south side hill all the way up.
Snow in and around the town is good (9,200+). Got stuck high on upper bowls above 10,000 feet on terrain trap. 6" of new snow on solid base of ice. Did not feel good to be trying to get unstuck on what appeared to be an unstable snowpack just above a 150 foot cliff. Did not trigger any avalanches despite side hilling large bowls above town. Lots of wet slab avalanches from previous week.
