I was doing a trailhead recon to see if there was still reasonable access for riding. I needed a 4 wheeler, not a sled.

Bottom Line

Wells Summit and Couch Summit trailheads were all dirt (see photos). It was raining to 7500-8000'. You might be able to drive up to the "airport" pullout on the Couch Summit road, but I didn't push my luck to find out. Snowmobile access to snow-covered terrain is either gone or going fast.
