There is a clear weak layer at the old snow/new snow interface at 42cm from the bottom of the snowpack. This layer failed in each of our stability tests. Our pit was on a 25 degree slope, and we only dug in one location. However, I would suspect that at any elevation (and similar aspect) where snow existed before the recent storm, the snowpack and stability would look similar.

There is a weak interface between the old snow and the new snow that fell in the recent storm. This layer failed with little effort in each of our tests, and our results were enough for us to avoid any avalanche terrain while in the Baldy OB.
