We dug a pit! Super deep snowpack. 170 cm! I was surprised by a few things. 1-The snow near the ground was less worrisome than I was intending to see. Not massive facets. In some places the slab really goes down to the ground and in other places there was still weaker snow but not fist! 2-We didn't have a lot of noticeable layers with hand hardness. After digging pits this weekend in much lower, south facing terrain, it was wild to look at a pit without a big ol' rain crust. But there it was! 3- We had lots of layers reacting in the pit. We did a compression test and received three results during the test itself. After 30 wallops, we kept hitting the shovel and layers kept on going. At the end, Tanner went and walked about the pit and the top layer popped. See photo.
