We dug a pit on an east facing slope at 8245 feet of elevation. We performed a shovel tilt test and an column test to see if we could find the weak layer formed on January 27th. Both tests resulted in a sudden planer at 20cm (CT8) on what we believed is the 1/27 layer. The snow above this layer is currently not cohesive enough to be a slab, but could become a problem in the future.
We saw no other signs of instability.
