Comments:
Stepped onto the slope and immediately got a shooting crack ~20' long. Cautiously walked out onto the slope and got a small pocket to pull out. The slab was 3-5" deep. Continued down the slope very cautiously and saw multiple more shooting cracks but could not get anything else to move. While the slab that released was small due to the consequence of the slope I booted back up about 20' and skied a difference aspect.
Did you see shooting cracks?
Yes, Isolated
Did you experience collapsing or whumpfing?
No
We toured up the west face of Cobb where the surface was a stout melt freeze layer up to about 10500'. Above that the snow had not transitioned besides there being a surface crust with faceted snow below - this skied surprisingly well. We skied good corn on the W/SW around 1pm. The snow became punchy below 8000' at around 2:30. The N aspect on Cobb was holding soft dry snow, but due to the windslab mentioned above we did not ski it.
