Skiing near a rock knoll on the bottom of a run near the gully, the soft sluff broke down to the next layer knocking the skier down. It was probably a 45 degree slope. We had skied the top and had dropped into the cold zone. The skier was fine, but he lost a pole and his skis. The pole was located in the run out about 100 feet below the skier.
