The Friends of the Sawtooth Avalanche Center (FSAC) and the Sawtooth Avalanche Center (SAC) are gearing up for a safe, fun and (hopefully) deep winter!  Our forecast team is preparing for another winter of record-breaking backcountry recreational use as folks flock to the mountains seeking fresh air, wide open spaces, solitude and good turns.  As witnessed last season, the pandemic added to the already fast-growing interest in backcountry recreation, making our job of providing quality, accessible and accurate avalanche advisories, mountain weather forecasts and avalanche education even more critical.

Through our annual fall fundraising campaign, grants and events, FSAC provides over 50% of our local avalanche center’s annual funding — without your support our area would have half the forecasters creating half the advisories for half the area we have come to rely on.  For the safety of our community, this year we will not be hosting any in-person events making your contribution more important than ever!
