Comments:

This layer gradually developed during periods of storms and drought in January and early February. It takes many different forms, depending on aspect, elevation, and location. On shaded slopes, it generally presents as a well-developed stack of facets. On solar slopes this layer is at its worst as a mess of melt-freeze crusts interspersed with small facets.
